| Piedmont Automotive Products, Inc. of Clarkesville Georgia
started assembling switches for Indak in a small rented storefront in
1962. Piedmont’s quality and efficiency were so good that in 1964
Piedmont built a modern facility and greatly expanded. |
 |
| To assure
timely delivery of other components Piedmont began operating three
tractor-trailer trucks, traveling over 250,000 miles per year. A total of 13 additions to the plant have
brought our size to just over 65,000 square feet, and employment
to approximately 200 people. Piedmont assembles approximately 250,000
Indak products each week for Visteon, Delphi, DaimlerChrysler,
Valeo, and
others.
In addition to assembling products for Indak, Piedmont started
stamping many of the necessary metal parts. Piedmont now has 22
presses (from 30 to 75 tons) and produces 2,500,000 parts per
week. Five in-house toolmakers build and maintain our dies.
In 1990 Piedmont received the prestigious Q1 award from Ford, and in
1998 became QS 9000 certified. |
